Mavis

As a girl's name, Mavis is understood to mean "song thrush (the bird)". It is not as common as it was in the 1920s, though it has not disappeared. Today, it is on the rarer side without being unusual in the registry. 1927 was this name's high-water mark in the U.S. birth records.
